Financial Matters
Minnesota Masonic Home North Ridge Care Center intends to make your stay as easy as possible. If you have any financial questions which are not answered in this guide, we ask that you contact our Business Office at (763) 592-2721, Monday through Friday during regular business hours
Medicare & HMO's with Assigned Benefits
To assist you in obtaining Medicare/HMO benefits, please identify the insurance carrier and policy number, Medicare number and Social Security number to the staff in the Admissions Office prior to admission.
- You must have a three-day hospital stay and be admitted to the nursing facility within 30 days of the hospital discharge for Medicare. HMO's may waive 3 day stay.
- Your condition must require daily skilled nursing or skilled rehabilitation services as defined by Medicare that can only be provided in a skilled nursing facility by licensed personnel.
- You must reside in a Medicare-certified bed.
North Ridge Care Center assesses each resident upon admission for potential qualifying coverage and periodically thereafter for continued coverage. If you have any questions regarding coverage, please contact the Health Plan Coordinator.
Various HMO programs in Minnesota may pay for limited services in nursing homes. Each program has its own criteria and makes a final determination whether to grant or deny benefits; the decision is made by each agency. Denials must be presented in person or verbally by phone, we cannot leave a message. Therefore to be notified we need the person’s name and phone number where we can call and reach them Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. When Medicare and HMO benefits are denied, the resident will be notified and the decision may be appealed to:
- Stratis Health
- (952) 854-3306
We share this information with you to avoid any misunderstanding. In the event Medicare/HMO benefits are denied, the resident is then responsible for charges incurred. It is your responsibility to contact us if there is a change in insurance.
Resident Accounts
We strongly urge that residents do not keep more than $5 at a time for incidental needs. Minnesota Masonic Home North Ridge will handle personal funds for residents upon written authorization by the resident or his/her legal guardian or conservator. These funds are kept in a separate, interest-bearing account, and a quarterly statement is furnished to the resident. CenterThere is an ATM for Residents and Families to use next to the gift shop on the first floor. Unanticipated withdrawals can be accessed by contacting a Nursing Supervisor or Director of Resident Services.
